A lesson for the children: show up, participate and add value. That’s what we expect and encourage you to do to get the most out of life and to give the most. 

Nelly “I like hotels. Hotels with candy and flowers. And cheese.” 

Teddy “Mommy, I know you love me so much because of I was in te arctic alone you would come get me. “

ALB “Yes, Teddy, that is very true.” 

Prince Charles was a guest at a dinner party around the corner a few weeks ago so of course we had to drive by. Everyone was really excited until I showed them a picture of Prince Charles and Scottie and Nelly determined they weren’t interested in him but rather in William and Kate and of course needed me to buy them a book about the recent royal wedding. 

Charlie has been really interested in US Marshalls (after reading a book about Bass Reeves) and was so happy to go to the courthouse so grandpa Hon John could show him around and introduce him to Marshalls. 

On they way home we had the following conversation:

Charlie “Judges are some of the most important people in the world. I could help Grandpa John be a judge. I know fair. I know suspicious. I know evidence. I saw a guy smoking a pipe. “

ALB “True. Judges are important because not only do they help punish bad guys as you know, but they make sure punishments are fair and that only the people guilty of doing something bad are punished. Some people are accused of doing something wrong but didn’t actually do it and judges make sure those people aren’t punished. Have you ever been wrongfully accused?”

Charlie “Yes. But bad guys so go to jail.”

ALB “Yes bad guys go to jail or doing some other sort of punishment.”

Charlie “Oh I know what you’re talking about. Like if they don’t go to jail they might have to do something like clean up or work in childcare. “

What kind of childcare workers have you seen, Charlie, that give you this idea?

Next day Charlie and Teddy are fighting in the backseat of the car 

Charlie “Teddy!!!! Stop it!!!!! You are assaulting me.”

Teddy “No, you are assaulting me. And you could go to jail. That would actually be sad.” 

Or I suppose go into childcare. 

Hannah and Milly. Need I say more. And charlie read the questions. And everyone else sat nicely at the table. I was proud.  

We love April fools day. I put faces on all the cereal boxes, the kids colored milk and made MJ a pretend kale Shake and best of all MJ wore a big fake diamond stud and pretended he had just laid out a bunch of cash on a new rock. What a stud.   

Teddy time.  

Charlie embroidered a “T” for Teddy. What a cool brother. So generous.
