“Like charity I believe glamour should begin at home.” Loretta Lynn.
I agree.

Children, do not curse. I can proudly say MJ and I rarely rarely curse and are so much better off for it. Our conversations are more pleasant, we sound lovelier, we have better thighs to say. You will sound kinder, smarter, funnier, all around better if you don’t curse. Please don’t do it. Please.

I’ve been in what MJ and I coined as “Squirrel Mode”-basically nibbling all day the like squirrels do with pumpkins in preparation for the winter. Charlie overheard me talking about this to MJ and said
“Squirrels can eat twice as much as humans.”
This squirrel mode nonsense has for to stop. I’m usually very disciplined about food (in a healthy sense). On to detox tomorrow.

I’m impressed by the children’s care and concern for little Peanut-generally called “Pinot” as an abbreviation for the nickname “Pinocchio”

I think we should have family charades once a week. And more game playing. Yesterday I had so much fun playing board games with the kids.
We also had so much fun at the Hanukkah Party seeing all our friends from the five Hanukkah families-Bermans, Friedmans, Braloves, Shapiros, Whites.
Today had so much fun hosting with Kerry Cullen a Sip and See for Johanna and Baby Birdie. I loved it and the kids loved having Maggie, Bridget, Loula, Alice and Nora over to play. Warms my heart.

The girls just love fashion and interiors magazines which is so cool. I remember being little and loving loving loving Vogue and Bazaar and architectural Digest. I always cut pictures out of these magazines and toy ads from the newspapers and hang them in my room. I remember getting W when it still came in big newspaper-like sheets and wallpapering my walk-in closet with it. It is so great to see what the girls pick. They have excellent and very refined taste.

I’m helping out with the Horace Mann
Auction and this year we are trying to get kids involved in donating things to win-an hour as a mothers helper, a batch of cookies, lawn mowing etc.
we decided at dinner tonight that Charlie and Teddy would donate a tar
Manner tutorial. Here is the description
“Brush up on table manners-napkins on laps, where to place your glass, how to use the butter knife, tips on trying new things, guidance on not throwing food-with 1st grader Charlie Berman & Pre-Ker Teddy Berman during their hour-long etiquette class. They will teach table setting and serve yummy treats during a mock “fancy dinner”
We will let them use popcorn to practice pushing food onto a fork
With a knife, strawberry soup to work on not slurping etc.
We better fine tune our manners here so we can really teach this class.
