Teddy’s last day of school. He was so proud to be moving on to big kid school. He had such an amazing year. How we love Ms McCoy, Ms Brandt and Ms Karen and the Rainbow class.

We take each child to an end of the year dinner-Teddy asked for his to be at Cactus Cantina so we went and have him a certificate and a gift card to politics and prose (when I was buying teacher end of the year gift cards there he asked for it…and we went back the next day where he very thoughtfully chose books).

We organized ice cream with the other rainbows after school on the last day, and all around celebrated Teddy. He was so proud and we were all so proud of him.

Canoeing with Charlie, Oliver and Nicole was so much fun. We saw a deer, turtles, and a lizard.

Playing in the car where they are “two mommies” and I’m a baby sitting in a car seat is a favorite game.
ALB ” Where are we going?”
Girls “To a restaurant. To ride a horse. To a meeting. To a party.”

Picking flowers and eating lunch. The girls always ask to eat in a “caaafe.”

Charlie wanted to know all about what he was like as a baby tonight. And he really enjoyed the part about how he was once only as big as a grape, then about the size of an apple, then “about the size of wheat” he offered. Yes I suppose the size of wheat I said.

We did his reading which we do each night, then worked on the guitar (he improvised a song about a dog named Biscuit that he was about in a book at school), then read a little bit of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before snuggling. I told him that I miss him when he is at school and playing so we will take a special bike ride together Sunday. I’m really looking forward to it.

” Anything is possible when you combine kindness with a thoughtfulness. ”
This was a line in a video that was a tribute to NCRC’s amazing head of school, Liz Barclay spoken by Robert Lerhman (the daddy of Juliette and Jason who are friends with Charlie and the girls). I think that Liz has shown this and it is something we can all copy.

Last night we went to see Mitzi receive an award for all her work leading the council at Theater J. We were so honored to be there with her and were so proud. I’m so happy the children have her as a role model for community involvement, love of the arts, and being funny in front of a crowd.
