I’ve been reading about artists who serve seated family-style lunches in their studios for everyone working there. That’s my kind of work environment. I wish they did that everywhere-in schools, businesses, wherever. It would make everyone so much calmer, more civilized and friendlier.

Last night I had a great time speaking on a parenting panel. People keep telling me to write a book. I’m so flattered but how could I possibly do that when my best writing is in text messages to Colin?

I love going outside after dinner and trimming plants, looking at the vegetables growing, harvest a piece of lettuce here and there. Since I’m not a particularly good (but still enthusiastic) gardener, I suppose I would call this after dinner yard work. But I still like it.

I could sit in the back garden for an hour pulling little weeds out of the ground. Or I could sit inside with the door open looking through all our books. Or I could mess around looking for new music. Jawaian? There are soooo many cool things to occupy time right here. And there are also so many things to do elsewhere. How can anyone ever be bored? How??

I like the idea of Al’s Grand Hotel. I wish I went the Frieze Art Fair. I’m really up for that kind of thing.

I’m reading Charlie some of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory each night. It’s so nice to share a chapter book with him.

Teddy’s end of the year renaissance feast was so much fun. It was an honor to fete Teddy and the rainbows. They know sooo much about Shakespeare for real. It’s amazing.

A mother of four, walking from my house to chemo, getting whistled at. They may not be very discerning but it does make one feel good about oneself.
