So much to say about today…
After a cute ballet class where the girls danced as “little pigs” in pink dresses for the little pigs ballet unit, and after radiation, I picked up Teddy early from
School and drove T, S, N, Diana and Apple to whitetail so I could teach the littles to ski. They were all so excited. Teddy wore his helmet and goggles in the car.
As suspected Nelly was a natural, put the skies on and just went. I knew she would do exactly that. There were onlookers cheering her on. She kept saying “again, again,” and Maury, the instructor who worked with us said she’d get a gold medal. Yay Nelly!
Scotts did a great job, put her skis on, went up the magic carpet and skied down the hill. She chatted and chatted while skiing and after 30 good minutes holding my hand to go and sometimes going on her own she headed in.
Teddy was skiing on the edges of his skis and wanted me to me right with him and hold his hand. So to get him to go on his own I pretended to chase him-which he loves- and that made him take off. He did a good two hours skiing and was so good for a little guy.
I find chasing will get littles to cooperate and have fun. Also bribing them with M&Ms- it was so cold I would just put them right in their mouths.
Then I did one run myself before heading home. I loved it. I love skiing. I wish I has done more in my life. I always assumed I wasn’t good at it and therefor was embarrassed or afraid but I should have just made a point to do more earlier so I could have spent my younger years skiing. Making up for it now. My goal is to have my children try as many things as possible and become capable at them so that they can have fun, gain confidence that will serve them in all aspects of their lives, and figure out what they really enjoy doing in life. I want them
To feel comfortable doing all sorts of different activities, comfortable doing things that are hard and comfortable with their physical and mental abilities.
