I have a big list in my big head of fun things for the kids to do when friends come over:
Go to the corner market for ice cream, whipped cream as sprinkles and then make sundaes ( with whipped cream squirted directly in the mouth as requests by C & T)
Have a lemonade stand
Bake
Build a fort
Play a board game
Have races up and down the sidewalk out front
Make books
Create tee shirts with fabric markers
Decorate the dog

Dinner here is literally the noisiest meal imaginable with at least one person screaming, one talking over everyone else, one just talking, one telling others to mind their manners, and everyone else adding in. Tonight I tried to introduce word/concept of the day in an effort to change the subject at dinner from “Why do I have to eat that? What if I don’t eat it- can I still have dessert? What if I just lick it?” to something more substantial. I offered up “the universe” as a topic. Soccer jerseys won. There is tons to discuss on that as one would imagine.

We’ve been organizing all the toys, closets and cabinets so that people can play more easily of course but also so that they new Au pair can see where everything belongs. We bought her new linens and put together a gift bag. Hope she’s ready for fun, lots of noise at meals, and affection from Huck.

Teddy drew in blue marker on the walls again tonight. When asked why he did that he claimed
“My brain told me to. I didn’t want to but my brain made me.”
Did he overhear Charlie say that or did they coincidently have the same response to being interrogated (gently) on transgressions.

Ooo la la. These girls loved their birthday party and I loved watching them enjoy it. All their friends came to spill “tea” (pink lemonade) with them all over the house, eat pink cupcakes and strawberry shortcakes, and wear crowns and bracelets.

We are having a tea party in the park today so the girls friends can celebrate their birthdays
