The boys went to a show with Mitzi and Grandpa and to spend the night and celebrate Hanukkah. But when Charlie realized he had left his favorite green dreidel at home he was so upset. I drove around to two stores looking for more dreidel a and dropped them off. Hope he likes. Dayanu.

Teddy got to go with Honor and her momtĀ o Chevy Chase Club today to watch Honor play hockey. He was thrilled. Thrilled and ran out the door, jumping into Honors arms. It was so cute and so sweet of them to take him.

Today was Charlie’s first basketball practice and game (which I use loosely). He was so happy. Got out his uniform, went into a loud gym filled with a bunch of kids and coaches he didn’t know and jumped right in. And was able to dribble without looking at the ball. He complained after that his friend wouldn’t pass enough and he was right. I told him he’d need to help teach his friend that passing is part of the game. At the end he ran over and said “thank you for bringing me.” I wonder If the coach told him to do that.

I really want to help Charlie enjoy and expand his ability and honor his love of sports but I also really hope he doesn’t put too much pressure On
himself and does it for fun.

He told his friend outside the gym “My mommy knows all the schools that have gyms. And all the colleges that play basketball: university of Vermont, Georgetown University, Harvard University. ” Not what I usually site as big bball schools but that’s ok.

I’m asked to recite The Night Before Christmas at least twice a day. I’m so glad to have such an appreciative audience.

We miss MJ so much. The kids keep asking about him and saying he is in England. Huck is currently downstairs waiting for him. She has a while to wait.

The best gifts I received as a kid were a basket of fake flowers my cousin Jenny got at the Prince purple rain concert and a pine cone that my cousin Deirdre decorated like a Christmas tree for me. I loved both these things soooo much. I wish I still had them.

I remember so well going to watch my aunt play CU basketball games. It was so much fun. Taking the boys to watch college sports makes me think of it.

Also watching Nelly pick up tennis balls during Charlie’s practice the other day also made me think fondly of all the times I went with my grandmother while she played tennis. I would pick up balls for hours and loved it.

Carine Roitfeld was described in an article “She’s enthusiastic as well as chic; lighthearted yet hardworking; sexy and womanly but not threatening.” I hope the girls can be described this way when are grown up. Roitfeld says “the letter is more important than the envelope. But if you feel good in your envelope then you will feel better about yourself. “

I had to take Scottie and nelly with me for a skin check at the dermatologist yesterday. They put us in a room with a box of books and puzzles for children and had me change into a gown to wait for the doctor. Every time Scottie approached the box Nelly would scream because she didt want to share. I had to mediate while trying to keep the gown from falling off in case the doctor walked in and saw me naked holding puzzle pieces. Nellys screaming at Scottie got so loud that a nurse came in to see if we were ok.
