Yesterday was perfect-two of my favorite things- kayaking with Mj, waking on the beach, kissing children, looking at fireworks, hanging out with the family, watching the children have the most amazing time with their cousins, and seeing the most gorgeous full moon I have ever seen. I guess that is more than two things.

I love how much MJ loves to swim
In the water. And now Charlie too. They both seam out to the dock yesterday. It made my heart skip a beat.

Charlie and Teddy were also so adventurous and wanted to do the climbing wall at the street fair and be in the Fabulists performance. I’m so proud of their desire and willingness to jump right in and try things-I wish I had been more like them. It’s so nice to learn more about yourself from them.

Charlie has got tennis on the brain. It’s great. He likes it and when you tell him to keep his eye on the ball he does. He is very good at taking coaching direction. He is also very good at telling you if you are wrong. We are working on being gracious about being correct instead of shouting out “You are lying!!” to someone who might have different information that Charlie does.

Teddy also likes being on the court, but he has taken tennis whites to a different level.

Scottie and Nelly went in the saltwater for the first time in their lives this morning. What an important day. I hope they love the water and have fun in and feel comfortable in it and get all the great benefits of swimming- like relaxation and joy.

I handed Charlie a Lego magazine to look at and said “Here is something cool for you to read.” He replied “I can’t READ.”

Yesterday as MJ and I walked down to get in the kayak Teddy came running behind us
T: “Where are you going?”
ALB:” Just out here in the kayak with Daddy.”
T:”No. That is too far.”
ALB :”We will stay close to the shore and be right back. You can watch us from the beach.”
T:”Ok”

As we paddled off I loved waving to that little cutie on the beach who was happily sitting on the sail boat waving back to me. It must be so hard to be so little and watch your parents paddle off into the water when you have no idea how far away they are going or what the water is really like.

On a totally unrelated note, trying to get all the kids to cooperate for pictures with Peter Simon was like trying to take them all kayaking.

Everyone loves a parade.

Charlie, Teddy and I collected shells and crab parts from the beach and them washed them in buckets and left the out to dry. I hope the children all like little bits of natural history and are curious.

Teddy is a big boy sleeping in a big bed but still calls out for mommy and need cuddles or says “Make me warm.” I love it so much. I could cuddle him all day. I look at his face and it is just so cute.

Teddy competes for lap space with his sisters and I can always fit them

all on but they all like their own time on my lap and don’t eat to share. This morning Teddy was crying and whining and I told him he couldn’t sit on my lap until he could stop whining. He stopped sat down on my lap and explained to me “can’t not let me on your lap. I can sit on your lap all the time. You let me.” Those are his orders. I will have to do it.
