Charlie and Teddy LOVED December.
Charlie went to a abbreviated performance of The Nutcracker, called The Mini Nut. He was mesmerized and because he was so in love with the swords and toy horses Drosselmeyer gave as gifts, afterwards every time he was asked what he wanted Santa to bring him he said “A sword, a jersey, and a horse for Teddy.” Charlie will also on occasion walk around humming a butchered version of
Teddy became completely obsessed with a book version of The Nutcracker and demands to have it read each night. He calls the book and nutcrackers, “nuck nuck”.
Carol gave Charlie an actual Nutcracker which he opened on Christmas Eve. He ate dinner with it and took it into his bed with him but then suddenly got worried that it might come to life in his room and somehow attract an army of mice. I assured him that toys in real life do not come to life so he happily went to sleep with it next to him, holding the Nutcracker’s miniature hand.
