Today is MJ’s birthday! We had waffles this morning, with a candle in them, and sang happy birthday to MJ. Teddy did a great job of handing gifts to MJ and Charlie did a great job of opening them. We love MJ so much. We hope he has a really fun birthday!

MJ and I saw the Capitols which made MJ happy.
We also got to see a Georgetown basketball game which made C&T really happy.

I told Charlie that we were going to have an au pair come to live with us and that it would be an older girl from another country who is really fun and loves to play with him. He had his own ideas…

C: “Ok, let’s have it be a soccer kid.”
ALB: “I don’t know if a soccer kid could take care of you and Teddy.”
C: “Ok. A soccer kid and his mom.”

Charlie talks about his bunny class friends all the time and asks to go to school constantly. Tonight he told me that next time he wants to sleep at school with the other bunnies. “It’s ok mommy.”

Charlie went skating for the first time on Saturday. He went around and around with MJ, holding his hand, sometimes balancing sometimes not. He seemed more interested in snacks afterwards with his friends.

Teddy on the other hand, screamed and banged his little hand on the plexiglass, trying desperately to get on the ice, so MJ skated him around the rink one time, holding Teddy in his arms. Lucky they were not kicked off.
Afterwards they got to go play on AU’s basketball court with their friend Molly.

Every time Teddy finds a clump of Huck’s shedded fur on the floor, he very helpfully picks it up and places it back on Huck.

Charlie has been refering to Q-tips as “contips”, not that he uses them and has also been telling me quite a bit what is possible and not possible. He told today “It’s not possible to draw at school because there are no tables.” This also happens to be not true.

He told Colin yesterday that “Dancing is not possible cause I’m watching Sound of Music.” Also, technically not completely true, but I see his point. He and Teddy are really interested in the kids from the Sound of Music.

Charlie is really into saying things are “not fair.” And when I served him lunch today he said “Want to eat cookies. Not fair I have to eat this lunch.”

Today Charlie went to his dentist. He loved it and was so pleased with the entire thing and getting a tooth brush, tooth paste, stickers, and dental floss to take home. He actually wanted to stay and play video games in the waiting room.

The doctor and nurse said he was so great getting his teeth cleaned and didn’t complain at all. So proud. So unlike his mother at the dentist.

Charlie started sleeping in a bed a few weeks ago. The first few nights were great and he went right to sleep. Then he realized he was free and started waking up in the middle of the night, getting dressed, and coming into our room saying “I’m awake. I don’t want to sleep badly.”
