I am so thankful MJ, Teddy, Charlie, Huck and all our friends and family
I am so thankful MJ, Teddy, Charlie, Huck and all our friends and family
A few days ago Charlie saw “Dog Academy”, a set of toy dogs and a little obstacle course for them, in a catalog, as I mentioned and was in love with it. The other day he came home from school to find a package for him from his godmother Jenny and inside was a “Dog Academy”!! I had never seen an expression of such excitement, as though all his dreams had come true. And the best part is Dog Academy continues to excite.
A week or two ago we went to the library where Charlie was looking for a book on lacrosse. There wasn’t one so he went up to the librarian and said “You get me lacrosse book?” They ordered, it and when I told him this morning that I’d gotten an email saying the book had arrived he was thrilled saying, “Go get the book now?” No, not at 7am, but we went over later and he went up to the librarian again, asked for his book “Have my lacrosse book for me?” and then stood in line holding his book and card to check it out. He did walk to the front of the line, but once i explained he had to wait, he happily waited and checked out his book. I love him.
MJ and I went to the White House for lunch the other day. When we told Charlie he said “What boys my age do there? Boys in the White House?” So we asked him if he wanted to be head of boy policy. He liked that idea.
Charlie has started directing me “Talk mommy,” to get me to start a conversation with him. I like this direct approach.
Charlie sleeps with a little nubby stuffed Winnie the Pooh bear and has since he was really little. He doesn’t carry it around with him, he doesn’t talk about, but it is always in his crib and when I check on him he is often holding it. He sometimes throws it out of his crib and if i ask him anything about it or suggest we hug it or kiss it or something he seems rather nonchalant. So I knew he liked but didn’t think that he really cared that much about it. About 5 days ago it went missing. He didn’t really mention it so I didn’t think he cared. Then yesterday morning he started crying asking where it was. I felt horrible that I hadn’t realized he really loved it and needed it. We talked about it. Said I was so sorry that it was missing and that I didn’t realize how sad he had been and that we would work really hard to find it. He had been acting up in school the day before so I mentioned to his teachers what happened and they said that had probably really upset him. These sympathetic teachers leant him a Winnie the Pooh from his classroom which he was thrilled about.
Teddy is in LOVE with this little baseball board book. The minute he is lifted out of his crib he points to it enthusiastically. As you turn each page (one with a hat, one a bat, one a catcher, one a batter batting etc) he screams out “ahhh” “‘arghsg” “aggg” and “baaaaa” for ball. When he gets to the page where players are reaching their hands up to catch a ball, Teddy reachers his hand up and when he gets to the page where two players high five each other he claps.
