Charlie loves his clothes. He has begin laying out shirts and shorts on his floor. He also layers and today wore two basketball jerseys at once. And he has begun taking a shirt in his crib with him to sleep as some sort of sartorial security–like he know he will have a change of clothes in there or will be prepared the minute he wakes up.

Charlie and Teddy are very excited about Halloween and all the decorations. When we see a house that’s decorated, Charlie says “Have Halloween in there!” I took him pumpkin shopping the other day at Johnsons. He was thrilled and picked out one for Huck, one for Teddy, and some furry spiders and cobwebs.

Teddy points at pumpkins as we pass them walking down the street and likes to touch every one he can reach.

The other day I was saying to Charlie “You are so cute and adorable and I love you!” And he said back to me “You so adorable.” And then I would tell him again how adorable he is. And then he said “teddy so cute I smash him.” Hmm…

Today we went to Battery Kemble and played with another Charlie–Charlie Smiles and his sisters. We forgot Charlie Berman’s shoes at home so I let him wear just socks in the fields, but a woman came over and told me not to. I let him anyway. He had fun.

Tonight Charlie’s fortune was “You find beauty in ordinary things. Do not lose this ability.” and Teddy’s was “Keep your feet on the ground even though friends flatter you.” They could not be more perfect.

Every time I read Teddy a book he points to things on the page and babbles like he is telling me what they are. If I pick up a book he doesn’t want to read he swats it. Then points to what he wants to read. Usually Good Night Moon, This Little Chick, Curious George Books, and The Mitten.

Today Charlie said “My look like my daddy, and Teddy, and mommy. My not look like Huck.”

Friday Charlie and Teddy came with me to the Russian Embassy to set up for the Georgetown Gala that night. On the way in, Charlie said “Russian Embassy! Get candy there!” Sadly, there was no candy but I think he still liked it.

The other day Charlie asked Meaghan, our beloved babysitter, “You know any college girls?”

She does. She also has an iPod which she lets Charlie use.
