T says “Hi dada!”

Today Charlie said “Who is Ghandi?” When I said a nice man who wanted to help people be nice to one another etc etc he said “In the sky?” And I had to say “Oh, you’re thinking of God.” And he “Said them two men the same?” Then I said (to myself) how do I explain all this?

Yesterday Teddy took his first step (literally, just one step. Lifted up his left foot and put it down moving forward). Hooray Teddy! Then today he threw a toy in the toilet.

When asked to make a rooster sound Charlie says “Cock-a-dile-do!” I love it. Squirrble.

Today we went to visit Charlie’s new preschool, NCRC. It was so cute! He is in the Bunny class–they even have a basket of stuffed bunnies in the room. The teachers seems so so sweet. Charlie saw a cubby with his name on it, books, and toys. It was hard to pry C (and more T) away from the room.

Charlie had been talking about going to school a lot over the past few weeks, saying “Charlie going to Run DMC school.” (we should probably correct that before it starts) and saying “My go a school! Play football! Have friends!”

Charlie stuck his head in the toilet tonight.

For Teddy’s birthday we gave him a stuffed dog and a William Wegman print of a dog on a chair. Today I hung it in his room above his changing table. When I brought him into his room tonight to get ready for bed, he saw it and went crazy, point at it, flapping his arms, kicking his legs and yelling “Uck! Uck!” which is his word for Huck or dog. Such an appreciator of art. And dogs.

Today Charlie went to the pool with Aunt Patty to learn to swim. Despite having a meltdown because his hands were wet, he had a blast. He took particular interest in two bikini wearing tweens. While I was holding him in the water he said, “Go say hi a them? Need to go say hi!”

When Aunt Patty said “Girls, when do you go back to school?” he apparently took note because about an hour later he sidled up to them next to the soda machine and said “Hi name Charlie. When go back a school?” Does chasing girls really start this young?

We just got back from the beach. Charlie and Teddy had so much fun staying with Bridget. Charlie loved playing with Uncle Michael and Deirdre and thought Alfie was super cool; Teddy bonded with Bayly. I swam as much as I could. The waves did not stop.
