I’ve been giving T Tylenol occasionally for his teeth. Charlie really wants some to so keeps pretending he needs it by saying ” My teeth hurt,” “My leg hurts,” “My stomach hurts need medicine too!” Here is Charlie drinking a “milkshake” he was promised after going to the doctor.

Teddy wants to badly to join in whatever Charlie and the big kids are doing. And to be held by his father.

He also likes to go to Ikea with Carol.

The past couple months Charlie has really been feeling his age of 2 and a half. He was so emotional, easily upset, and discouraged a couple of times a day every day.

Me: “Charlie do you want apple juice or water?”
C: “No!!!!!!!!!!!!”
But then last week, it was like a cloud lifted and he stopped having so many meltdowns and went back to being the best Charlie he can be almost all of the time. And it was like he understood how to do more, say more, and understand more. Instead of screaming when he asked if he wanted to try a new dish, he actually tried it. And when we said don’t bite your brother’s foot, he said “Ok.”

Teddy used to lay down in his crib on his tummy with his tush in the air and fall right to sleep the minute you put him in the crib. But as soon as we got back to town he stopped and now cries when we put him in his crib (despite his new favorite rabbit puppet being in there with him). What is wrong? I want T to go to sleep happy.

Putting Charlie to bed on the Vineyard took a little while longer than usual. The first night he did not want to go to sleep and he sat up while I pretended to go to sleep on the bed next to the crib but still watching him. He was so determined not to fall asleep until he was sure I was asleep that he sat in the crib for 20 minutes and every time he would almost fall asleep and fall over he would wake back up and try to prop himself up. Very cute even though I wanted to go downstairs and have dinner. After that he started asking me to lay on the bed so I would for a few minutes until he was ready to doze off. But he would keep watch and tell me “Close eyes mommy.”

Charlie keeps talking about Georgetown and asking to go to Georgetown while we were away. When we were out for a our morning run the first day back he said half way in “Where basketball players?” I realized he doesn’t know the difference between Georgetown the school, Georgetown the basketball team, and Georgetown the neighborhood. He thinks we are living among all basketball players. So i said ‘I don’t know.” He said “Getting coffee?”

While MJ had come home for work and we were still on the Vineyard, I asked Charlie what he was going to say to MJ when he saw him. He replied “Basketball football championship!!! Soccer!!!” Music to MJ’s ears.
