Three weeks ago we moved Teddy into his own room. For about 2 weeks I woke him up and fed him every night at 10:30 or 11 and then he went right back to sleep. And MJ would go to feed hi when he woke up at 3ish and again he would go right back to sleep. Then he just started sleeping through the night and now sleeps from 7 til 6 every day. He has been such an easy sleeper so far (though he refuses to sleep on his back and wants to sleep on his tummy with his hands under his forehead).

I had a really great conversation with my amazing grandmother, Mama, the other day. She wanted to know all about Teddy and Charlie of course and said, as she always does ” So do you love being a mother?” To which I replied “I love it so much.” I was lamenting them growing up so fast and she said ” They get cuter every day it’s just a different kind of cute as they grow.” She is so right. She should know. After raising 10 children (11 if you count me since she raised me for the first part of my life). And as usual she went on and on about how all little children are so sweet as if after all these babies and all these years she is still amazed by them. And when I asked what to do with a two year old and their tantrums she said to remember, “Sometimes they get ornery but they don’t mean to be. They just don’t know. So don’t ever scream and holler at them. Just keep telling them ‘No’ if the need to stop doing something. And they will learn.” So simple. I hope I can be as good of a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as Mama.

It has been the best week ever…we’ve been playing in the snow, hanging out at Jack and Katie’s next door, sledding on the street with Will and Luke, having dinner with the neighborhood kids…I think Charlie wants to move into Jack and Katie’s now. He walks right up to their door everyday and says “Charlie in.” The other night when I was trying to get him to come home after eating dinner and playing, I said “Charlie Berman time to go home.” He said “Charlie Berman play with Jack Berman.” Not everyone has the same last name-a lesson still to be learned.
