It has been hard for me and Charlie with the new baby sine it prevents us from snuggling and hanging out as constantly as we would like, but Charlie is handling it very gracefully for the most part and I know that soon he is going to realize how much fun having a brother will be for him.

Two days ago a catalog of Halloween costumes arrived. Charlie loves it and reads it over and over cover to cover. He points to certain costumes and then to himself to tell me what he wants to do. It seems he wants to be Darth Vader. Funny since he has no idea what Star Wars is. Though he also says he wants his father to wear a gladiator costume but has no idea about antiquity.

Charlie calls himself “nish” and is forever pointing to himself and saying “nish” when he wants to do something himself. He also calls himself a kid. I told him the other day that some kids are boys and some are girls, but he wanted to make sure that first and foremost i knew he was a kid (as opposed to a baby).

Teddy was due August 12th but showed up on the 5th at the same weight as Charlie (8lbs 5 ounces, minus Charlie’s extra .3 oz). He is very strong and very alert and at a week and a half he rolled over. And he is such a good eater he gained his birth weight back before he was two weeks. And Donna who was our doula with Charlie has also been helping with Teddy.

Charlie is an amazing big brother. He hugs and kisses and holds Teddy all the time, and even brings him toys and offers to share his drinks with him. And in the morning from his crib he calls for Mama, Dada, Huck, and Baby (sometimes it is heartbreakingly sweet when he calls for the baby to come get him from his crib). Their mother really wants to pick Charlie up and play with him, but because of the surgery it is a little tough. But Mommy and Charlie can do what they used to do again soon.
